How Update Checks Work

back2vibing checks for updates automatically on app launch.

You can also trigger a manual check from the tray with Check for Updates….

If no update is available, no install prompt appears.

Install Flow

Section titled “Install Flow”

When an update is available:

  1. back2vibing shows the target version and release notes.
  2. Click Update to start download/install.
  3. The app relaunches when installation finishes.

If relaunch fails, restart back2vibing manually.

Stable vs Alpha Channel

Use General -> Updates -> Alpha updates to choose your update channel:

  • Stable (default): recommended for day-to-day reliability.
  • Alpha: faster access to new changes, with higher instability risk.

You can switch back to stable at any time.

  • Keep stable channel for daily work.
  • Use alpha only when you want early features and can tolerate breakage.
  • Run a manual tray check before an important session if you want to confirm you are current.
