Audio & Alerts

back2vibing uses intelligent audio ducking on macOS to ensure you always hear your completion alerts clearly.

You can control sound from two places:

  • Focus tab: full sound controls (mute, chime, volume, ducking).
  • Menu bar tray: quick Mute Sounds / Unmute Sounds toggle.

See Menu Bar & Tray for the tray workflow.

  • Sound Muted: completion sounds are silenced, but focus switching still works.
  • System Disabled: both focus switching and sounds are disabled globally.

Use Sound Muted when you still want visual focus behavior without audio alerts.

  • Ducking: When a completion sound plays, back2vibing temporarily ramps down the volume of other applications (like music or videos).
  • Ramping: The volume is smoothly faded out before the alert and faded back in immediately after, so you never miss a beat.

In the Focus tab, you can:

  • Choose your default completion chime.
  • Test your selected chime.
  • Adjust sound volume.
  • Tune ducking levels and ramp behavior.

If you enable Disable during screen share in General settings (Pro), back2vibing skips both focus switching and sounds while sharing/recording is active.

See General Settings for setup.
